The Court Directed me to do Restorative Justice. What do I do now?
The HBRJ Court Co-ordinator should have met you at the court to make sure we have your correct phone details and address. If the HBRJ Court Co-ordinator did not speak to you, please contact our office to make sure we have your contact details.
The Court Administration will send your information to HBRJ.
A person (Facilitator who will work with you on the case) will contact you -
Who is able to do Restorative Justice?
Restorative Justice is about Offenders taking responsibility for what they have done to another person(s). The Offender has to plead guilty to the charges brought to the court.
Do I have to do Restorative Justice?
No - it is Voluntary for all participants
Usually a Lawyer has spoken to an Offender about doing Restorative justice.
Victims can choose to or not. It is best if Victims first meet and listen to the HBRJ Facilitator to understand the benefits of doing Restorative Justice. It can help Victims work through what happened and to have a voice in the matter
